Repackaging old news as new often happens in the run-up to elections, and it should count as disinformation. Example? A few days ago, news circulated that the Civil Status Authority had just issued a national number to Saif Gaddafi. Let’s see how this “news” amplified:

First of all, pages that circulated this were created between 2019 and 2012 – which is enough raise our suspicion

The news started on a Twitter account named @rajaaali88, and was quickly amplified on various very recent Facebook pages (media, advertisement, sports, etc.)

Tahra team contacted the Civil Status Authority and was informed that national numbers were actually given to several members of Qaddafi’s family, including Saif, back in 2019 – not last week.
