The Ministry of Education of the GNU issued a decree allowing teaching Tebu language in schools where Tebu children are registered. The decision provoked hate speech, while various media reports wrongfully claimed that the teaching of Tebu language was going to become mandatory.

Correction: the teaching is only optional and not mandatory for other children. The right to learn and speak minority languages is protected by Law 18/2013 and is a way to celebrate Libya’s cultural diversity and promote greater tolerance and inclusion of all groups in Libya.
